Potters Treasure Divers Guide

Potter's Treasure Diver's Guide

I hear ya... Worth the visit if you ever make it down here. If you do get to the McLarty Treasure Museum, let me know what you think of the shipwreck diorama... I was commissioned to make that for the museum and it is now on permanent display there... I appreciate comments and suggestions for future projects.

You will get an honest but not necessarily welcome opinion for sure.......

Thanks Phips,

I will go to the 2 in the north......only have a couple of days, a trip to the keys would be a stretch.

I'll keep the Sunday after the cookout open and go with you, SADS 669. I've been to both, but not for awhile. Been meaning to go see Phips Folly's 1715 diorama at McLarty, it wasn't there the last time I visited.

ARRC...

Find anything interesting when studying the Bernard Romans Map at McLarty Treasure Museum? I have a direct copy of the original map and donated an additional copy to the McLarty Museum (which is the framed one you are looking at in your photo)... There is actually more to the complete map than what most have seen and there are additional shipwreck references notated.

Actually yes and no...
I always see a new perspective in every map...
In this instance I was looking at the Port Charlotte / Punta Gorda areas...
For research that needed support from many maps of this time period.
It was referenced to me on this map that it was used for original location of 1715 fleet etc...
But to tell you the truth I saw very little to support that from that map if I remember correctly.

I have maps that are very rare with more detail to that fleets general sinking locations/markings than that...
was not impressed with it as far as maps go.

Would love to see your map you speak of.
My maps collection both on paper/velum extend and range from 1960's back into 1500's.
And digital archive is over 10 gigs compressed.
There are not many maps of Florida I do not own... in fact I do not know of any I do not own...
And own 2 that are unknown.
ALL Florida...
I use to collect all maps but ran out of room long ago and downsized...
1970 is cut off for me.
Must be pre.
I use to collect all maps... years ago they were abundant and very easy to find.

I also use to collect National Geographic and of course the maps...
that is what got me started.
sold them 20 years ago.
Been collecting just Florida Maps and books (all historical or related) ever since.

Again... and anyway...
Would love to see your map... although I think I may already have :)

OH btw... I have a map that does have the + location markings for 1715... only on mine... it has 2 more locations with these same markings...
IN OTHER locations...
:) :) :)

Um... this map has a detail... that in my opinion is very interesting by Bernard Romans... http://tomitronics.com/maps/historic maps/1776.jpg

OH AND.. heh...
For you guys that enjoy this sorta stuff...
this is by the for-mentioned Author...

Not going with you unless your buying?? Ha ha

No worries - I'll buy. Its only proper since you're coming such a long way. Florida hospitality.

You can buy when I visit the Bahamas.

BL,

Deal.......Seriously, a visit to a museum with someone from " there" is always better, so thanks for the offer.......

Oh that Frank Hudson... heh...
I thought you meant someone local here.

Well, reading through this thread, I just realize I have NO good books on Treasure. Gonna have to pick up a few listed here.
