Potential gold ring and medallion with 13 stars.

Hey guys,
New to the forum. I found both of these items the same day about 80 feet apart on my second ever day of hunting. The ring comes up as a gold coin. It has no ID marks so it may have been home made. Im not even sure its gold but non the less Im curious about it. The medallion I found has 13 stars on it and the letters H.F. in a box looking thing. Im assuming the 13 states are whats represented but any help with these finds would be great!!

after you posted those pics I dug a little bit but I cant seem to find anything more about my piece. Being that the ribbon and top metal parts are missing it will be next to impossible to properly ID. Still thank you again for that information. I never thought id even have a clue of what this was. Going hunting now actually wet and all!!

I found mine in 2000 when I first started detecting, it was one of my first "old" finds, I been wondering what that "HF" meant all this time.

The ring may be turquoise and red coral.

I brought the collar ring to a local guy and he said just by looking at it, it seems to be a higher'K' then 18k gold. I didnt want to do an acid test but he basically told me if I decide I ever want to sell it he will help me get it appraised but he wants to charge me...I'm in no rush because again I dont plan on selling it but that seemed a little odd to me because if anything I would just pay someone to appraise it directly. Basically it seems like he wants to make 3rd party $...I don;t think so. Anyway that's my update. Thanks to everyone who helped me with this!!
