Not found too recently but posted here in reply to example comparisons posted by PB. This was dug in a mid-late 1850's Seminole War trash pit. Have most pieces of the epaulette. Also, have enough pieces found scattered to work on a second one, although maybe not as complete.

Dug in the 1850's. Not bad for back then.

I put my shovel blade right through the epaulette part of one today. I was so P***ed off at myself.
 

Wow great epaulette! Gotta love em. We just got a pair of Confederate SC Surgeons Officer epaulette's at my shop. Hard to find them dug in great condition like the one posted above. Very nice2012-09-06 001.JPG
