Wanted to make a thread and see some of the stuff you guys have found out there. If you would like, post your oldest points, brokes, tools , fossil's, "anything" that is your oldest discovery to date. This point is my oldest find so far by at least a couple thousand years. It is a late Paleo, Alamance type. It dates from about 10,000- 8,000 BC here in VA. I found it on a site where I found some early to late archaic pieces. It is the only Paleo piece I have been fortunate to find, and unless it was randomly lost I assume the site goes back much earlier just under the next layer. Unfortunetly the place is grown up now with thicket, but hope to get into some earlier Paleo stuff somewhere in the future. Hey I can dream can't I:rolleyes: 011.JPG016.JPGIf you have something you would like to share post it here....HH

I found this drill while working a few years back. Sitting on top of a dirt pile. I was told 8,000 to 10,000 BP.

Certainly was a shocker when I found out how old it was.DSCF0452.JPG

This is the oldest artifact I have found. This is a Clovis Point that I found on the Bonzo Farm in Lawrence county Ohio.

The tray is also all Paleo related artifacts and mostly from the same general area.

Come on whiplash we all know what rocks look like. We want to see artifacts aka rocks made into artifacts.

My apologies, when I found the axe shaped rock it was sitting in a notch on a handle sized piece of petrified wood. It looked cut out on purpose and the wood has partially turned to coal. The other one I didn't post a picture of, but it is more hammer like and was also sitting in a handle size piece of wood with a U shaped notch. The rock also has impact marks on it where you would think it should. Both were within a few feet of each other and also a bone fragment a few inches long was next to it.

My oldest point is the Palmer in my avatar which the archeologists here say it is a transitional Paleo/Archaic point that is probably 9,000 yrs old give or take a thousand and a soapstone bowl piece that is between 2,000 and 6,000 yrs old.

Hi; I can't Post a picture of it as it went to a Museum in 1988 in England. It was a Viking Chieftains Sword from circa 912AD. It had the Viking Dragon on the hilt, Gold Braiding down the handle and a Norse Crown Pummel studded with a Purple Amethyst and about 98% of the blade was fully intact.
I "GAVE" it to the Museum. I feel I don't have the Right to take a true Treasure from the People. If I found it here, yes I would sell it to a Museum although I've donated many pieces over the years. I'd love to find those rock type finds though. Maybe some day. PEACE:RONB
