on Tuesday March 15th while searching for some civil war artifacts I unearthed two good finds at a place where Washington stayed. I found a 1787 king George copper half penny and one of the first navy buttons ordered after the department of the navy was established in 1782. It is listed in "Albert's button book" as "NA6 E" as confermned by the back mark "double gilt". Does anyone know the value and rarity of the button. It was great for an old swabie like me to find one of the first navy buttons issued. thanks for the help.
