✅ SOLVED Possible trigger mechanism???

I found this while digging in the yard of my 150 year old farm house. The main body is iron with the top part being brass. It looks like a trigger to a gun of some sort, but I'm not sure whether it goes to a firearm or some mechanical device used on the farm. Any help is appreciated.

Wow, that didn't take long. Thanks a bunch.
I have about a quarter of my yard excavated so far and that is the most interesting find I have so far. I just joined this group, and I will be sure to post any other significant finds.
