New to your forums, I have been working with local universities, they helped me cut it.

Everyone is blown away, it shows 100% meteor qualities, but yet it has layers, also an octagon then a perfect sphere core.. What the heck is this thing, no natural earth rocks would be this shiney if iron, they would be rusted. Super ass heavy, magnetic, everything but then it has layers.. Its sure not smelted, found in he middle of nowhere in a dry river gravel bed. Pretty sure no smelting could cause layers and a core...

uh, our sun is made of hydrogen, helium, and the core is likely producing elements such as carbon and oxygen. The core of earth is largely iron and nickel. The very millisecond the sun begins to produce iron, it goes supernova and it's kaboomo's.

This dude is either just a troll having fun here or a complete buffoon. There's no in between.

Sorry, Caleb12. The “platinum” nugget pic you posted is likely slag of some type. This very item (same pic) has been under discussion on several mining forums.

XGPX0001. The item you originally posted on this thread is metal slag. I will not venture a guess on which metal or alloy. The tests done thus far remind me of amateur hour at my home lab 30 years ago. A qualified professional in the field of assaying metal alloys for industry should be able to give you a definitive answer to the makeup of your item.

Time for more coffee.

Darn. I will still send a shard off for meteor testing, its only 45$ and i'm pretty sure that will tell me what it is. Either way it's a pretty badass rock. I just don't know how metal slag could have been layered like this and rolled.... Wouldn't slag be solid and bubbles and not a perfect sphere center then layers? There's no metal anything for at least 100 miles.. Middle of nowhere arkansas wilderness.
