Hi folks!
Im fairly new to detecting but have some fond memories of detecting with my uncle as a kid in the 70s. I recently aquired a garrett treasure ace 300 and have had some small success hunting my yard just to get familiar with the detector and have been reading everything I can find online. (especially here :) )? Anyways I am really getting ancy to do some real detecting now that I have been inspired by so many of your finds here. Does anyone know of any places in Tennessee or publications that give areas of historic intrest to get me pointed in the right direction? Any info would be greatly appreciated. The weather has slowed me down from doing much hunting yet but I figure the time waiting for a better climate will help me plan a strategy for where to go.

Thanx again and happy hunting :)

Guide to Treasure in tennessee by Michael Paul Henson will also list metal detectors sites costs maybe $10. The ten volume Treasure atlas by thomas P. terry has one volume that includes Tennessee costs maybe $20. The WPA Writers Guide to tennessee issued in the thirties should be in your local libaray. exanimo, ss

wow! Thanx for all the replies guys. I will check out the books soon. Im about 45 minutes N.E. of Nashville Bob.
Ive been doing alot of research on my area and there seems to have been a good bit of history in the area dating back to the 1500s when there was an indian village here. Brentwood huh hmmmmm.

Ive also found that there is a sizeable MDing club in Nashville I may just have to join up with soon. Thanx again for all the great info.

I am in TN, about 60 minutes south of brentwood. problem is, the only people i know who live there would not want me messing around in their yards! Ritzy neighborhoods, and i would feel like a horses a$$. i have about 75 acres of land to detect in, between an aunt and my parents when it gets nicer out. I just dont know where to start. I do know there was some kind of battle (Farmington or Petersburg area) near where my parents live and maybe i might find something on their property if soldiers went through there. Sorry if i am rambling, i am eager to get out!!!!!!!!
