Got out in a pond today got 2 junk earrings a 14k Ariel earring and engagement ring that puzzles me marked on one side. 14k-A and on the other bonded so I think it's a junker 14k acid that's old breaks it up a little on a scratch test with a very deep rub. When I put the acid on the ring I get no discoloration that's what I'm puzzled about

Have you checked 10k? I find a lot of that style but never seen one that said Bonded. Have to look that up.

Still a beautiful ring!!

I looked up bonded it said it could be a maker mark. Or could be plated

If you want you could send it to me for inspection LOL Have you done the diamond tests breath on it see if it fogs up or scratch glass with it. I really have no idea what Im talking about but I have heard people on here have tests for diamonds if its real the ring is gold I bet!!!!!

Normally bonded means plated. 14k over a base metal in this case, and the stones are normally not genuine. But test it, and I will hope I'm wrong...nice find regardless. :icon_thumleft:

Either way that's a nice looking ring congrats

Thanks all I'm guessing it's fake

Like A2 Coins said, the Scratch Test on glass is a great way to narrow it down based on Mohs Hardness Scale.

Hoping for the best on the ring, great hunt anyway you look at it...

Update on possible diamond ring

That's great news.

now ask the dealer what they will pay you :dontknow:

don't be shocked when they say $5 for the setting & $30 for the ice----- then it will go in a display case for $599.00

like the eyeglass frame that costs $1.29 for 1 ounce of colored plastic and you get charged $175 plus $75 per lens :BangHead:

ask the jeweler if the ring has "undercoating" and "Scotchgard" to prevent stains --- that should add $3 to the value
:laughing7:

the ring is awesome---- BUT-- just sayin', value can be a bummer :sad10: :crybaby2:

That one would have Been Yoinked By Red To Never be Seen Again Unless it was on her Finger Great find Chug
