Went to Port Aransas Tex to play music this weekend and took my two detectors along. When I got there Friday evening I saw two guys swinging MD's. I got up Saturday morning and got to the beach around 8 am and the same guys were on the beach again. I used my Tesoro and used it on all metal mode and found nothing?? I did not catch up with these guys but on Sunday morning with my BH202 set on all metal mode and turned up on sensitivity I found 1 beer can and one beaver tail. I stopped and talked to them and one guy found a gold ring last week with 5 diamonds in it. The guys were wearning waders and were knee deep in water. They have been there from Oct to Jan and have pretty well cleaned the beach. They are now working the water. I will have to let summer end and hit it in September before they come back...

Very cool that you were there. My wife and I have a boat at Island Moorings Marina there. Where did you play? We like going to the Beach and Station Street Bar and Grill there. Great food and live music on weekends. I would be interested in where you play when we go down to the boat. We would be happy to go listen.

We play for a private party at the dunes condo. It is called the dunes fest. I have been playing this gig for about 25 yrs. Every since an accordion player blew a stop sign that obscured by plants on Lantana st. ;D

I find the same thing by Gulf Shores AL. by the time the wife & I get there, the beach is pretty well cleaned up.

Hey Rennie...you have 22 miles of beach there...they may be good but they ain't that good!!! LOL Next time you get headed this way drop me an email and I'll let you know where the hot spots are. The beaches around here have been producing some great finds...even coins back into the 1850's.

Rich in Texas-Do you play golf? There is a new golf course(Newport Dunes) across from Island Moorings that is awesome!

yo R

From the land of the Bluenose.....a place is never truely dug out....got a beer can and sir was it Bud..the King of beer! Next outing may be your day!

Hey Kieth, yes I do play. I haven't played that course yet. I do have plans on it. If you don't mind, I'll give you a shout when I'm heading that way with golf clubs. We usually go stay on our boat and work on it. We have been a bit busy and haven't been down too much lately. We are in the process of buying a ranch and that has taken a ton of time. I'll PM you my info.

Rich

you need a ranch hand to shoot varmints for you i have a really nice scoped out 243 and i will leave the dfx 300 at home and bring the ace250 instead

I've been really wanting to hit the beach with my GTI2500 since I got it last year. I'm just up in S.A. I'd love some beach tips for Port A so I can do a quick Saturday hunt before summer, or maybe right after spring break...

Thanks,
Paul

:icon_pirat: I would say after spring break, when all the snow birds have gone. The kids get drunk and lose a lot of stuff and the snow birds have flown the coop back north.

We used to keep our sailboat at Island Moorings. It's draft was 6 ft and we had difficulty at the exit from Island moorings into the shipping channel. It was continually shoaled. The restaurants were great in Aransas and we had a great time there. A lot of the beaches we used were only reachable by boat. There were some defunct condos not built yet but they dug all the canals. It was just south of Mustang island that Aransas is on. Plenty of people used to go there and swim. Probably all built over now.
