aha the detective was related to your GF * -- so the morons were breaking into cars in a different town --got caught red handed and he cross checked their names with the pawn shops data base list (online) that they are forced to keep by law... hit a match and bingo ... real rookie thief move putting a item with a serial number into a pawn shop ,,, stupid crooks ...wish the crooks who took my x bow--- muzzle loader and tool box from my car had been so stupid --my car insurance --said no "content" coverage ...my home owners said 1000 dollar loss before it covered stuff --thank goodness my NRA gun loss coverage paid 60% of "new value" for the x bow and muzzleloader ... I hate a damn thief...

Man, that's awesome. Not very often do stories like this end on a positive note!

Crime does not pay! So happy for you Casper.

Glad you got them back.
I guess the police that found them are now " detect-ives"
Lol, sorry couldn't help myself.

Awesome to get your stuff back! Funny Steve Martin line.
Glad the two idiots will be off the streets for awhile.

So glad your detectors are being returned. I sure hope they get jail time!

Wow that's amazing. Congrats. That would never happen in Bodymore tho. Our law enforcement is too overwhelmed.

Well at least they got the thieves. This is just me. I cant believe that the cops found the machines. Good police work. hh gl -Joe

The police department ( in our town)comes in these pawn shops every other day picking up pawn tickets and entering in a data base. If something is reported stolen the pawn ticket is one of the first thing the police look for. Always pays to keep serial numbers. That is one thing on the pawn ticket....The pawn shop( i use to work at one) will lose on what was paid out. Would not be surprised if pawn shop only had $20 in it though. We never gave much on any items. Part of doing business....Glad you got them back

Wanted to add these dumb crooks do not have a clue that the police is picking up these pawn tickets daily. They are being taped when they are in the store and their ID is being added to these pawn ticket. No ID no money ...And yes police look at these tape if no one has a ID trying to cash in an expensive item. We did alert police all the time... And yes we were not PC...If you look like a Meth head & had expensive rings , gold chains ,nice firearms,( nice MD like yours :-) etc & you were trying to pawn them.... police were called.... You would be surprised how many crooks are caught.

Congratulations to you and the officers! Good job!

I think some pawn shop owners work with thieves too. Trying to protect them to a certain degree. But they would never admit it.

Well done for our police officers. They have a thankless job and constant criticism and risk their lives daily for an ungrateful population. Bummer about you getting robbed and this is the first I've heard of it and great that they caught one and hopefully the second brother soon. Just haven't came to the library much as I want to lately. Hoping all the machines work well.

I think Cudamark made an excellent suggestion. I haven't written down my serial number yet, but will do so now.

Not in our city. If the police find this out, your store will be closed down and the owner or owners would go to jail....and they should Best to work with the police. I am sure it happens but that Pawn shop will not be in business long. If they find that the pawn tickets are not accurate or have mistakes.....your inventory will have one audit you would never want

Great news, Casper. Too bad you do not get to replace with new, but getting those guys off the street, if only momentarily, is a good thing.

.......they won't pursue it, because of the laws that changed, no jail time for thieves or drug addicts! It is damn shameful!
Yes it is! and it is all the governor's fault. Crusty the Clown Brown. Another screamin liberal in CA. Ever since felony crimes were changed to misdemeanors and felons were released early into the streets crime has gone up in that area.

I live in CA too and soon to be NoCA, maybe I will run into you at the beach.

PC is for politicians, who cares about PC when it comes to crimes and stolen items. It could also be called profiling.

If you look like a gangbanger, walk like a gangbanger and talk like a gangbanger, guess what? Cops are not supposed to profile but guess what? It is their job to catch the bad guy. If asked, they would probably deny they profile. If I worked in a pawn shop I would profile just like I did when I was a deputy. You gotta watch out for those little old ladies.

they are pursue it in this case - I had my credit card # stolen too...think it was on papers I had in my vehicle from work I had done on it
the made 42 charges in like 5 hrs - card company stopped most - but I'm not libel for any of the charges - police are working with the card company
and trying to tie the charges to them - they got them on like 3 charges but if they can get them for the card too - gonna put them away for a little while ==supposedly

Glad to see you got your detectors back, be glad you live where you do because here, unless it is a gun that is stolen, they won't pursue it, because of the laws that changed, no jail time for thieves or drug addicts! It is damn shameful! Good luck! I always look forward to seeing what you are going to post next!
