Hunting an old park today when a police officer asked me what I was doing. I said MD'ing.
He asked if I was digging and I said NO. My question is...if you pop a coin out at 2 inches and replace all dirt and grass...
Does anyone consider this digging?
We talked and he said I could keep doing what I was doing. I was finished anyway.
I don't want to fib. Thanks for the comments.

Passerby called in....sheesh!! Some people just can't make it if they don't have that phone pressed to their ear.

Posts like this make me mad... Who cares if your digging..?? Its a crime to dig ?? I hate this crap....!! As long as we return the ground to near original condition. Its no ones damn business if we are digging !! I feel like a skateboarder, metal detecting and skateboarding is or are not crimes !! LEAVE US ALONE !!

Keep @ it and HH !!

I know on the Oregon coast if you have your detector out that's all they need.

Here's your sign lol.

But seriously it's gotta be where one lives on how often they get bothered. Here they will call the cops for rabbit tracks to the shed but not for MDing. Kinda blows my mind. But also this towns pretty virgin on MDing not many do it at all, or just never cause a problem so they haven't found a need to make a law against it. But all it takes is one and to be honest with my grass turning brown I thought I was going to be the one lol. But nope I went back tonight and the groundskeeper just waived and threw his trash out and went back inside. Good luck and never get angry with a cop no matter how right you think you are, you'll just end up in more trouble. And once they have that first charge it gives them time to dig up more charges against you to get you time in jail or a huge fine and restitution. Keep calm.
