As there has been a bit of rain we thought we would try & catch one of the farmers at home, it worked, he was in. We had a 2 day trial on their farm last year & it seems we passed because we now have free rein of all their land. Although no workable fields were available yet. Therefore, we drove around looking at the state & crop type of a few nearby farms & found 1 field which had been ploughed & was just flat enough (A low priority field with few finds & no sites).
I'm still solo hunting with Cru'Dad watching & recording, so after 1.5 hours I reported in with just 1 nice 14th C Buckle & a Hunts Button (fox). Although I thought with another 3 hours I may get 1 hammered it was time to move.
The new spot which has a nice square crop mark on it was still in crop (Wheat), so it was back onto the 1st Barley Stubble Field for 3 hours;

4 Roman Coins
Great Western Railway (GWR) Button
Star Find a Roman leather Mount. I have never seen a similar & there are none like on on both UK Databases. I need more research but for now I'm calling it a Military (Cavalry) Horse Mount.:icon_thumright:
UPDATE:
Lucked in or lucked out?
My Roman Military contact has never seen the likes of my Mount. I should be surprised but I'm not, I knew it was a rare find as soon as I dug it.

Good showing of finds for the time spent out on the field. Buckles and buttons but devoid of greenies, thought that you'd of popped a few. Congrats on the Romans and the mount, all show potential of whats to come from future hunts.

Congratualtions! :notworthy:
