Hello,

This is the third point I have found so far, I know enough to call it a point and and not an arrow head and that is about it. I am not sure if it is intact or if the base of it was broken off of it as I don't know if a point always has a base. The little sharp rock is about 1.8" long, 1" at its' widest, and .5" thick. One side is nearly flat whilst the other slopes down to meet it. It was found near a location where there was known to be an NA village. Is there a way to determine if it a piece of a point or the entire thing, what it may have been used for (I am smart enough to understand it wasn't used to tickle the native wildlife), and an approximate time period?

Thank you

Your piece is Plano Convex - A description of a cross-section of a blade that is semi-circular. One face is flat while the other face is excurvate or rounded. Also sometimes referred to as a uniface cross-section.

I'd say it's missing the base; which is a key piece to determining type & associated timeframe.

Check out this lithics glossary...

The base has a very odd hinge fracture? I think will be called. It is a nice lithic for sure.

Thank you for the information, I shall keep looking for more points and post anything more I find.
