Bigcypress, What you have is a mould for a screw barrel, single shot percussion pistol with barrel wrench. Most of them were 38 to 40 caliber and were loaded by removing the barrel, (which had a square detent at the muzzle,which the wrench fit), placing the charge in the breech and screwing the barrel back on. This item is rare and of some value.

Great news Buck. 8) Thanks. I posted it here twice and I didnt believe it was to tap on the round ball. Its too small and not balanced to use as a hammer. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,20480.0.html I always thought the end was a tool.

Can you tell me more about it or post a link? Is it English, American or Spanish? What years were they made? Can you find a pic online of the pistol?

Found this while searching for BCH`s bullet mold on ebay..
(still searching yours BCH)

Similar to jrwill56`s photo, might be a "blank" as mentioned in the ebay description,
drill to size?

I'm still thinkin bullet mold.

you just take the appropriate caliber "cherry" and ream out the flat part of the jaws to make the bullet cavity.

CHERRY
A tool used to cut the precise bullet configuration into the two halves of a bullet mold.
