Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I found this metal detecting in a field. There is nothing on the obverse side. Can someone please tell me what kind of coin this is or if its some kind of token??? Please help!!! I have been researching for a week now and I haven't come with much. I'm dying to know what it is. IMG_1741.webp

We need size and thickness and weight if possible .

A pic of the reverse side, NWS, may also eliminate the possibility that there may have been a clasp attachment for a pendant, cuff link, or ??
Don.......

It looks like a lead token, perhaps a cobblers token. Lead tokens have been around for hundred's of years, but yours looks more recent....Welcome to TreasureNet:icon_thumright:

Recondigger, I will try to have size, thickness and weight on here tomorrow. 8-) Thanks for commenting. Also, Mackaydon I will have a picture of the reverse up tomorrow too. Thanks. And Silver Searcher thanks for the info about the cobblers tokens. :)

Not a coin. Is it lead?

weight is 0.02 oz. Diameter is 1.1875 in. and thickness is 0.0625. I won't have a picture up today. Hopefully next week. :) I don't know if it is lead; it doesn't seem very heavy but it could be.

Its a funny colour for Lead but looks to have been distorted around the edges like lead. Therefore, being a unifaced object (with no visible attachments or scars on the rev?) its likely to be a Token. It is one of the best modelled lead tokens I have seen, so it was cast with some degree of competence.
The figure is standing next to 2 items which will be a clue of the issuers trade.

Keeping my eye on this one. Looks almost like a big hammer shape to me. Does it look that way to anyone else?

I thought the right object was a large jug??

If the land you found it on was farmed at one time or another maybe try to see if they held any farming competitions in the area. May, as others say, have been a token from an event such as that. Awesome find regardless!!

The other object seems to be going between his legs. The other thing I notice, is that he seems to be quite relaxed & not working, as such.

Looks like its made of copper to me and has a picture of a man and a shoe.
I would think that is why silver searcher said cobblers token.

I know, I thought copper as well, but this would make it an even more unusual token.:icon_scratch:

Now I see the gaint shoe! Weird...

looks like a jug to me or maybe a giant mortar and pedestal . at the top of the jug is a round looking object that is sitting on the top edge.
something i see that i think is weird ( and this may be common and i am not experienced enough ) the shadowing on the man makes it look like its not stamped but actually concave , like he was etched . does that make sense ? a stamp would go straight into the coin.token but this guy looks like its actually rounded under his head and under his feet like it was cut in..

not wanting to confuse any one or throw them off,, just wondering if anyone else sees this or am i nuts...lol :tongue3:
