I found the button at old house sites that date to 1800 its like a cuff button real small love to know what they are how old,the womans face is like on brass and like its stamped in it

I was kind of wondering what was on the side? Like nothing, hollow, makers name, a loop/shank, solid?

The cuff button looks like it says Scovills, if so it is 1827-1840. Here is a link to back marks and dates of manufacture...
