I recently found this 'badge' in a box of trinkets. I would guess it is for a fraternal organization/labor union but I have yet to find out the exact one.

Dimensions:

Height: 3.5"
Width: 2.25"

The badge is made by Whitehead & Hoag Company. Any information is greatly appreciated!

Apparently the "Fraternal Handshake" was used on several different badges by the company Whitehead & Hoag. There are several examples of the handshake available for sale on ebay. I looked at a ton of their badges but didn't see the one you have. I wonder if it doesn't belong to a fraternal organizations like the Masons.

could also be a guild or a union medal, not necessarily a fraternal organization

Strap wrench
These tools date around early 19 century

One note: I believe this originally had a ribbon attached, as I note the bar where it would have attached at the top.
This may narrow the search a bit, as many of their medals did not have this.

My guess was the 'Central Labor Union' out of NY/NJ....or another early labor union (late 19th century) that would represent multiple trades. Still no proof though...

Given the various tools, another possibility might be a Vocational Education and Industrial Arts award.
