Can anyone give me any information about this ring. I'd like to know it's age, what metal the band is, and what the stone could be. This has been complicated by the mark inside the band. It is a single stamp of a left facing head, with the "hair" or back of the head being large in proportion to the face-seems bigger than Mercury's or Minerva's hair (which are BOTH silver hallmarks and this at least looks gold), almost like a Native American headdress. But it is so worn there are really no details or relief, just the outline, so I couldn't get a decent picture of it.

Thanks in advance for any and all information :) 2.jpgring 1.jpgring 2.jpg

Can we see Closer and Clear pic's of the Marks???

Found. It was rummaged up from a box of junk jewelery by a friend.

I took at least twenty pictures in different light, different angles and different (admittedly crappy) cameras. That one and these two (which aren't really better) are the best I could do :(1.jpg3.jpg

Hey & Welcome to the Forum. Could you draw a large picture of the maker's mark, then photograph it? It would be almost impossible to ID the ring without being able to see the makers mark. By chance does it look like the one pictured below? Did you dig/find it in Louisiana?

Neat find :)

I will try to draw it as you suggested. It wasn't found in Louisiana. The mark does somewhat look like the one you show here, but there is definitely no border, it's just the head alone. Also, there isn't a neck on it at all, and the back of the head isn't visible like this one. The whole back of the head is winged out like on the top of your picture.

the stone color in your picture looks like what they call "london blue topaz" ...not saying it is.... this would be most likely a heat treated irradiated stone. But it could just as easily be a simulated (fake) stone as well. a lot depends on the setting.
