Can you please help ID this "Legion Of Honor" piece, my buddy dug it at a field site that is on the 1872 map, but we think the site is older than that, he got a 1829 half cent and I got a war of 1812 button there as well, thanks for the help!

Would help to know size. Can't tell from pic. Also include pick of back. What does it appear to be made of.

Sorry dont have back pics, will see if he can get me one, it looks like brass, and is about the size of a suspender buckle, as that is what we thought it was when he dug it

It might be from the Masonic or Catholic Legion of Honor.
I believe the design was based on Napoleon's Legion of Honor.

Google Legion of Honor Catholic Society for some misc. info.
