Please help ID tag I found in 1970's as a kid with my White's Coinmaster

After all of these years I finally went in my safe deposit box and took a pic of this tag I found in my early days of detecting in the 1970's, and for that long I have wondered what this is. I found it in my friend's yard about 50 yards from the main RR tracks in Millard, Nebraska. His home was built in the early 1960's, so you can imagine my suprise as a young teen coming across this! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated to solve this 30+ yr mystery for me. Bryan

Could you advise as to how thick this piece is?

the NO.94 might be a old train route number -- route number 94 * -- "millard" must mean the town where you found it --- clearly its dated 1887 --I would do a bit of research about what train outfits ran thru there in the 1887 era. -- it appears to be some sort of baggage tag or equiptment tag would be my guess --- I P might be the company name -- something like (illinoss pacific or something like that)

Maybe a dog license tag? If so, being that early, it would be extremely collectable.

didn't think about it being a "dog" tag -- thats possible also -- and if so as pbk says its very collectible to the right folks.

I believe it is a tag from the T & P Railway Company. The company moved from Big Springs to Fort Worth, Texas on May 1, 1960. If I can figure out how to post a link to the article, I will attach it.

ok texas and pacific railroad? that makes sense --- T.P. 1887 era -- serviced by train number 94 or on route number 94 --seems to be a claim tag for articles going to "millard"via the train -- the old train depot area might have been close to where you found it or a porter type person loading / unloading folks baggage onto their wagons --lost one of the rail lines bag tags while doing it maybe.
