I found these at an early-mid 1800s site, my first time hunting there. I'm not sure if I have found the homesite yet, but knowing the age of these bullets could help. I am pretty sure the roundballs are old but I am not sure about the other one.

Also, what are the rings around bullets with little divots (lack of a better word) called like on this one and when did they start making them like that?

They are called "Cannalures" and came to be when it became cheaper and easier to swage bullets in a press instead of cast them. 1890ish to present day.

Note - diameter is more telling than length. Yours looks to be maybe a .38-56 bullet or similar.
