Hi fellow treasurehuntrers.
I have this object I found this Summer on an Aegean island. I have no idea about the timeframe this would fit in.
I found it near a site that once during WW1 was a basecamp for allied troops (British, Aussies, NewZealanders and French). There's also a site nearby where some Kosak families stayed after they were ousted from Russia after the Bolshevick revolution. The island is also covered with ancient archaeological sites, greek, roman and medieval sites but nothing known near this site.

The item is rectangular, 2x2,5x1cm in size. The backside looks like it could slide-lock over something else, the two bent over parts have kind of a "lip" on their inside...
On the front part there are six decorative(?) concentric circular motifs, not evenly positioned (every time I look at it this is frustrating me and my OCD...), and around the frame looks like there was a braided or notched decoration that is worn down.

Have you ever seen something like this?

In photo #1 it appears that the item is thicker on the left than the right hand side.
In photo #2 the random design pattern really looks like images of head stamps of bullet casings.
The circle with the primer in the centre.(The bottom 2 images look like they have been fired even)
As far as what it was from-I have no idea.

Thanks guys for the replies.
The item is too small to be a lid for a matchbox...

Still looking for clues
