I've been putting this off for a while now, but once I start something I won't stop until it's done.
I like to make shadowboxes for the property owners that let me MD on their property. A token of my appreciation.
Here is the one I just made tonight for the owners of the 1779 plantation house I started hunting at earlier this year. Some of these finds may look familiar from my previous posts.
Of course I kept some nice finds for myself too.

Mirage (Bob),
If you want to send me that reale you found on this property, I will gladly put it in here too. :tongue3: ;D

Thanks for looking Folks,
MM

Your shadow box is beautiful !!! You turned mding into an art.
How did you attach the items? Thanks for sharing, Vickilynn

Thanks everyone for the very kind words. Being able to MD at a place like that is like getting free entertainment and stress relief to me.
With more and more old properties disappearing I'm glad I had the chance to MD it.
The owners are great, and they let me come and go as I please which is great.
I know there will be a lot more to be found in the large woods, and I'm looking forward to that later this year.
Thanks again,
MM

Vickilynn,
I use a clear silicone glue to hold the pieces in place. It dries rubbery, and the glue can always be peeled right off the piece if ever needed. That glue holds everything very well.
Thanks,
MM

Really nice looking group of relics displayed very well.

That is tooooo cool!! Very nice idea for the owners and I think I would want to do one for the owners and myself as well! lol

That is awesome MM  I see no reason that Bob couldn't donate back that reale he found as well ;D

Wow, that's an awesome gesture of appreciation!
You have some finds there many of us would die for!

May I ask if you know what the brass, oblong object is located in the top upper right of your first picture?
It's the one with the indentions. I found one of those last week and have seen one before but can't recall what it is.

Thanks for posting!

Very Nice!! I'll bet when some of those folks' friends see that display you will get some more places to hunt !! I hope they appreciate all the time and effort you put into it. HH Steve

The display looks pretty full to me - I wouldn't want to mess up the nice arraignment either. :D

I noticed you didn't put in that sweet SLQ with the date..... ;D

You did a great job with the box.

Bob

Doug, that is a fantastic display you've made. I sure hope the landowners appreciate your hard work as much as we all do. When I show people without metal detectorist mentalities my finds, they glance a couple seconds at it and say, "that's nice". :icon_scratch:

MM, would you mind showing us a photo or advertisement of the glue you use? I'd sure like to make a shadowbox for some of the stuff I've dug up through the years, and having the correct type of glue would be essential. (Some things are just too small to put in the china cabinet.) Thank you.

TT,
No problem. There are others but this one works great & has a nice thin dispenser tip. I think Wal-Mart carries this one.
Good luck.

GRB,
That is my second one now from two different properties. I was told they are valve stem caps from a Ford Model T.

I agree SF. I guess at Bob's age he needs to stash that silver away for his retirement though. ;D

(Just kidding Bob, I know you can still strut like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever) :tongue3: :icon_king:

LMAO!!! ;D I knew you would say something about my 1917 SLQ. ;D  That one is staying with me. It's one of my best coin finds. Let's revisit the pictures, shall we............

Wow, gorgeous display. It is good to know that there are several people on this site who give back to the property owners!

Doug,
That display was amazing. Thanks so much for bringing it into the office for us to see.
Ahhh...did you notice how the "marketing" people gathered around us when you laid it on my desk? LMAO! A couple of them were so amazed saying things like "Were you just walking along and saw those things on the ground?" and "You mean you ACTUALLY dug that stuff up? You FOUND it?" After you walked away, I told them "Yes, we metal detect but Doug is the MASTER though. We are just part of the cult." OMG! They looked at me like I had 2 heads. OMG! I wish you had seen their faces!
What a beautiful display you made. You're the best!

The display is very cool. Shows a lot of class on your part. Do you have any more finds left in your part of the State? :D
