I have been looking forward to getting a pin pointer for metal detecting. I have looked at the Harbor Freight pin pointer for 20.00 bucks, but I have also been looking at the Garrett THD. Any information on these or any other pin pointer will be gladly accepted. Thank You and HH.

Ive never used the Garrett THD but i have the Garrett Propinpointer and have no idea how i ever got by without it, much faster recovery and very powerful

Is it worth the 127 dollars.

Is it worth the 127 dollars.

yeah unfortunately it is a little hefty on the wallet but I would suggest only buy it if you truly enjoy detecting, and have alot of use for it. Ive managed to get permission on a good amount of sites so far this year and its been invaluable to me.

I've got to a site and realized I forgot my pinpointer(garrett),had to go back home to get it,if hunting all day,Have to have it.

Most of the people I know that detect, including myself have the Garrett pinpointer. In my opinion it's well worth the money.

Definitely get the Garrett. It's loud and strong. And I beat mine like a rented mule and finally killed it. Sent it back and got a new one. Love. It. It's cheap at twice the price

I use the Garrett pro pointer, about $125-$127,depending where you go.Say away from those cheap $20 ones, they'll work for a week or two & then nothing. You wouldn't buy a cheap $50 metal detector and ecpect to find treasures like you nsee on this site,so save your money & get a real ppro pointer.

I bought a fisher F point about two months ago after using the harbor freight/cen-tec one. The f-pointer works great up to an inch and doesnt overheat at all. Worth the 45 dollars 100%. Bought it at a hobby shop...didnt even have to wait for it. The guy at the shop told me he just recieved an email stating that the f-pointers will soon not be for sale individually, only as a package deal. get'em while you can, save 75 dollars compared to the garrett lol (suits me fine)

I've been looking at the Bounty Hunter pin pointer, but wasn't sure if it was any good or not.:dontknow:

I bought the Bounty Hunter pin pointer at Cabelas. Having to twist the knob to turn it on and adjust the sensitivity was just a hassle. I returned it and got the Pro pointer from Garrett (at Cabelas). Way worth the money

Garrett pro-pointer all the way :treasurechest:

I've been successfully using the cheap Harbor Freight pinpointer for over two years! And yep, after a few weeks, we had to spend an additional five bucks to purchase a new switch at local parts shop -- switch was a cinch for us to put in ourselves. So -- for total of $25, I didn't put a dent in my tiny income, and I like the small, lightweight Harbor Freight pinpointer. If you can afford the Garrett pinpointer that everyone's recommending, go for that one instead! Andi - (ole lady on very limited income, lol)

Spend the extra money and get the Garrett Pro Pointer, down the road you'll be glad you did. Great identifiable sounds to show how close the object is plus vibration feature and light.

I've decided to go ahead and get the HF until I can afford the Pro Pointer. Thank you for all the opinions.

I also used the HF pin pointer and it worked fine for finding my finds. Was not perfect but got the job done.

Definitely can not wait to upgrade from this thing...

I have an ace 350 and was having trouble pinpointing deep targets anyway I read a lot of reviews and got the pro pointer and went back to the areas in my yard I couldn't find stuff in hole, they were easy spots to find because of the dead grass lol, and wow what a difference it made. Haven't found an empty hole yet last nite I found a mason jar lid at 10inches that I gave up on before it was in side of hole. I wouldn't get rid of pinpointer and be lost without in now. P.S. I've gotten better at cutting plugs now too. I would recommend the pro pointer to anyone but its the only one i have ever owned. Good luck
