Pinpointers Sold in the USA

I have the Auto Max Precision 4. It works great, but being big and bulky is bad. I've broken mine twice now. Used epoxy the first time and will again. I'm looking for something slimline and smaller. Something that wont break in my back pocket when I bend over to dig.

i got an automax v4 thrown in with my detector purchase from kellyco. never used a probe before and i'm happy with it. the one thing that makes no sense is that probes are meant to be used intermittently. generally, if the thing is in your hand it means your gonna use it. with that in mind... why didnt they put a blasted trigger switch on the thing instead of an on/off slider!?!

if theres any probes out there that have a momentary switch you can actuate with the same hand your holding the probe with, then thats the probe to take a look at.

Same here. I know it isn't the "best" out there, but was worth the $ with the package deal. I'm glad I got it. I think it lacks alittle "power", but the plus-side of that is I know if it's in the hole & sensing, I'm only about 3/4" away from whatever's in there. I don't like the sensitivity knob, has to be adjusted basically at every hole from getting bumped.

What you said for the $ it was good. I don't mind the adjustment every time just that I keep breaking it. It does help to find those little things in the dirt. Happy Hunting Dudes

Wizard VIB PROBE...I have used several and my favorite is the cheapest one not because of the cost but because the pistol shape gets in holes easy and has a LED light mounted under the rod so that it lights up the hole at night...Not to mention Wizard will replace these things for you no questions asked at no cost to you.

Thanks Sentinel !

The only thing I really don't care for is the handgun shape.....might scare the little mothers at the tot lots ! Not trying to make joke here, I am truly concerned about this aspect. Glad you are happy with yours though and the warranty sounds great !

Todd :)

BTW, my wife & I have been in the custom drapery & interior decorations business going on 30 years now. I'll be talking with her and answering the price poll you started for the "sleeve" soon.

Yes, I can understand your concern for the "pistol" shape of the Vib-PRobe however I can tell you that it is Bright Yellow in color and looks more like a water gun than anything. This shape makes it really easier to hold and handle too. Gets down really deep into hole without your hands touching the dirt. My buddy uses a AutoVmax but prefers the Vib-Probe that I use.

Thanks everyone, for the honest reports. This is the kind of feedback that helps.

Some folks are shy about admitting there is a problem with theirs.

A testament to the good character of T'Net members ! ;)

Re: Fisher fPoint Pinpointer Specifications

Dear friends,

Specifications on the Fisher fPoint Pinpointer are rather sparse on their website, so after a couple of contacts with them, I have collected the following additional information if anyone is interested.

#1) Current msrp $79.00
#2) Overall length 10 inches
#3) Probe shaft length 4-1/4 inches
#4) Pinpointer weight 0.3 pounds (4.8 ounces)
#5) Battery (1) 9 volt
#6) Target signal: buzzer which can be heard and felt.
#7) The pinpointing probe does NOT have a light for illuminating the hole.
#8) Warranty period: one year

I would appreciate feedback pro & con from anyone who has used this pinpointer.

Thanks,
Todd ;D

Vibra Probe, no switch to fix, auto on and off. I've seen some automax break the shaft...

Dear friends,

I ordered the Vibra Probe 570 today from Tony @ TC Metal Detectors.

Before ordering, I phoned the manufacturer (www.treasureproducts.com), and
talked to Mike. He answered all of my questions and said the 570's should be shipping to their dealers by October 1, 2007.

Thanks to all who offered their comments/opinions on this thread, helping me to make a decision.

Todd ;D
