Howdy All, I got a second pinpointer off of ebay for my daughter to use. It was used but looked new with no scratches or wear spots. It worked fine our first two hunts and then started false reading. Anywhere you touched it to, it sounded off. It even sounded off on my arm? I brought it home, took out the battery and sealed it in a bag with desicant to see if drying it out would help. Left it in 4 days, took it out and it worked fine for a few hours and then started falsing again. It would not false if you weren't touching the ground but as soon as it touched the ground it would start. I tried a new battery and again, it worked fine and then started again. If i hadn't paid $100 for it, i'd smash it with a hammer. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks steve

Call Garrett. They'll tell you to send it in. Explain that you bought it used, give them serial number and maybe they'll fix it for free, except you'll pay shipping to Garrett in Texas.

Not all 9 volt batteries are built to the same specs. try cut 1/4" x 1/4" piece of cardboard, and insert it between the top of the battery and inside of lid. It will force the contacts to get a better connection.

Howdy All, I sent my pinpointer back to Garrett to be checked out about 2 weeks ago and a new one showed up in the mail today. I told them that i bought it used and they checked the serial number and it was still under warranty so it was free. I'm REALY INPRESSED WITH GARRETT CUSTOMER SERVIVCE!

I used to be a whites guy, but I think Garrett has stepped up their machines and customer service. Congrats on the new pinpointer!
