Found this today in hawaii, not sure of manufacturer identification. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, these are my first that I've found, does anyone know how rare they are? Could they possibly from the civil war, even though they were found in Hawaii?

Thanks for the reply. No, it is 'imprinted' or in other words, the writing is all sunken into the shell, and not raised. I will try to post a picture if I can get my camera working. It might be from a later date than 1874 if the writing is not raised?

Thank you for returning to this discussion with the requested information. Yes, indented lettering on your pinfire shotgun cartridge's brass base indicates it was made sometime after 1874. A couple of well-focused closeup photos showing the lettering might lead to narrowing down its date of manufacture.
