pics are back up idk why they were taking off

Pictures were not taken down, it is a software glitch.... I deleted post Dutch made because it appeared to be insult, Dutch said he and matty are good friends and it wasn't intended as an insult so his post was restored....

Cool find but it really stinks when there is almost no detail for a true ID. I do see what appears to be a Pine Tree.

There are certainly similarities and it may never be known because of the condition but it is worth researching. Did you measure the coin to see if it was the same size as the one in the Historical Society? It might be worth sending an email to the Massachusetts Historical Society to see what they think. Being a unique coin, finding one that clearly was in circulation may add a lot to the history of the coin.

well its def not the same size of the pine tree copper (31mm at 180grns) it is 27mm at 51grains and it is very thin, i have a connec copper for ref and its just a hair thinner, now im thinking it may be a button but there is absolutely no trace of a shank mark..... im not crazy there is def a pine tree, i cant find any buttons with a pine like it.....oh well guess well never know, another win for the coin roach gods!!! lol

Cool find . Heres the way I look at stuff like this .... If its so toasted everyone is guessing and speculating no collector is going to place much if any value on it. Not that you care about value but as a past coin collector I wouldn't buy a coin I had to oil up and angle just so even to hazard a guess about what it was. So like any toasted copper dream on and keep looking you are at a good spot.

I like the way Gaspipe summed it up.

dont you got some arrow heads to plant......lol j/k i found the match to that engineer button today 10 yrds from the other one

I hope it turns out to be ultra rare! Congrats either way! We love mystery!

cleaned up

took some more picks after i soaked it, lg cent and connec copper in pics for ref.......could a coin just wear in the ground in that perfect shape? i dont know what it is i guess ill have it checked out
