Something new for me..in almost six years of detecting ...

Found a half gold ring during the low tide at my local beach. So...when I found a second half gold ring ten minutes later I naturally assumed it was the other half. To my surprise it was a different ring completely.

Then I got really excited and gridded that spot "eight ways to Sunday". Unfortunately no more gold rings...but a lot of really old sinkers and lots and lots of iron trash. The rings broke up even more after a vinegar soak...but still a nice payday of 7.7 grams....assuming 10K..of about $160.

This first partial ring looks like a military style school ring...It's pretty worn but I wonder if anyone is familiar with the design?

The second ring comes from Pioneer High School class of 1974 (Thank you Google ...I knew the school name began with a P and ended with ER and assumed it was California and home of the Titans )...initials of O.D.P. I have a message to their Facebook alumni website. It would be a kick to locate the owner.

any gold is good!! I would have gridded till the cows came home too! congrats

Hi why does the ring have blueish color to it? Is that after you soaked it in vinager? Did you acid test it?

Was the beach recently re-nourished? That could explain the chopped up rings.

Or, the guy who belongs to the initials was introduced to Mr. Woodchipper by some unfriendly loansharks one dark night.

Sweet find!

Two half rings, ten minutes apart and not the same ring...strange things happen in this hobby...congrats.
