because bidding locks the seller out of adding a buy it now.

Actually, the seller can still work around this if they really want. All they have to do is cancel the bids that have already been placed and then add the BIN. I've had a seller do this for me before when he was dazzled by my $200 offer (the bidding was already up to $70+). Would have ended up MUCH higher if he would have let the auction run its course.

I have been on both sides of that fence...Ive had offers that were triple what i expected....and at the same time saw someone selling multpile items...and i offered to buy his complete inventory to save him moneys on fees...Of course its Frowned upon on Ebay...but its frowned upon when those B*stards freeze my Paypal account for a month for no reason...I hate dealing with Ebay on the Selling end

That may be something that has changed because it seems familiar.... meaning I probably tried it before.

Do it the smart way, do the deal through ebay. If you're getting a great deal pay the fee for him... it's never that much. It's a lot better than you both getting booted because you're not following policy. A good deal is a good deal and you don't have to nickle and dime it.

I knwo you are right...but early on doing this (2004ish) All i cared about what the money..I was young then, but felt nobody was being harmed. I wouldnt do it anymore thou, to many scams out there.

Plus one day i had to spend an hour talking to the people on Ebay about WHERE i was getting my items from...it was quite funny when i told them to review my other Ebay account where i had a perfect paper trail of buying the items on there and selling them thru a different account..havent had any issues since then. But it did irk me they had froze my account RIGHT when I had 500 dollars in it.

Always a sucker for a bargain deal !

Now I have boxes of trinkets and doodads that may one day be collectible when dug from under a pyramid five thousand years from now.

I did that and way more years ago, but now I don't want to, and don't have to. Someone who makes money from short cuts and shady deals will never last as long as someone who's making money a totally legit way.

I find it long, tedious, frustrating, hard and boring. I used to buy and sell on ebay... It was fun at first but after a few years things got changed to much.

I'm trying to buy from ebay and seems like alot of people won't take buyers with 0% feedback. All say they've been stiffed to much. Hahahaha if I got pissy every time I got stiffed on someone not showing up or not paying me if quit the very same day I started many years ago. I've been trying to give ebay a chance at the request of some one here after my last post about it but I've just about giving up. I like my yard sales and auctions. Where I can feel and see it and get it right then. I spend a whole a night before I head to work and bidded on alot of items and never won one, or the bin are no feedback no sale. It's fairly easy to build feedback as a buyer. Just buy a few cheap items. Most BIN items require you pay instantly via paypal so feedback isn't an issue.

If this is an issue that would almost make someone ready to give up, I don't think having the feedback will make much of a difference, That is the last thing I'd be worried about if I was just throwing myself in for the first time and trying to make it work.
