the ring was found on a soccer field about 2 inches down. if i'm not mistaken the smaller the number the better the gold. am I right? the blood was probably washed off, we had alot of rain lately.

Great find. Beautiful ring. The higher the number is the more gold. Example:

US / Karats % of Gold Fineness
24k 100% 1000
22k 90% 900
18k 75% 750
15k 62.5% 625
14k 58.33% 583
10k 41.67% 417
9k 37.50% 375

Hope this chart is correct. I believe if not it is very close.
