Finally got around to uploading some of the pictures I took of this old village. Lot of history in this neck of the woods and this site has been picked over through the years. Though, there are still a ton of items there to be found. When I took the pictures I found relics laying on top of the ground, along with bottles and pottery shards. Last I heard, the site is now off limits to detecting and digging. Gonna have to call the city and find out for sure.

Here is the link to the pictures

Hey Dave. Where the heck is Warren? I've lived in and around Baltimore for all of my 45 years and have never heard of it. Is it near warren road bridge? Have you found anything good out there? Looks like a great site.

Hey Tow,

Yup, you have the right spot. When you just cross the bridge traveling towards Jacksonville look to the left, and you will see foundations of three old bungalows. They were the starting point for my exploring of the site. If you pull off the road just as you cross the bridge, and park, you will find the ruins of the old Methodist church. If you walk down the hill from the dirt parking lot, you will come to Warren cove. Herring Hill is on the other side of Warren cove, and there are foundations and depressions there also. Walking into the woods from the end of Warren cove will take you to the bungalows, via old Warren road.

Check out this link to the BCPL Legacy web and type in Warren Village, or Warren. You will be loaded down with period photographs. http://external.bcpl.lib.md.us/hcdo/lw_home.html

Hope this helps you out.
Also, if you get a chance, check out the Baltimore County Historical Society in Cockeysville . They have maps, photos, and newspaper articles about the village.

Bungalows.

This place has been on my mind ever since I was a kid, when I first learned about the town under the lake, from my brother and his friend. I have yet to detect there because I was told that DNR and Baltimore watershed police have been patrolling the area. Since the city owns it, permission is most likely needed, but probably not granted.

There is good stuff to find there, though. I have found horseshoes, axe heads, a toy pistol made from iron, bottles, and rusted 1921 Maryland license plate, pottery shards, china, etc. Most of this was found ON TOP of the ground. The place was getting hit really hard by bottle hunters who knows what they may have found.

Hey guys thanks for the pictures and great links. Wish I lived in your area so I could hit that spot! Good luck and I would really be interested in seeing some of your finds. Jim Cal

Hi Jim,

It's been my pleasure to post the links. A lot of people pass by these ruins everyday and don't know they are there. In the summer time this patch of land has pretty thick undergrowth and you really have to look for the foundations. I knew about the bungalow foundations because I spend a lot of time there in the spring and summer fishing in the lake. I had no clue about the other stuff until I started exploring the woods a few years ago. I was amazed at all of the different features that are still there. I have more pictures to upload, I just have to remember what I did with them.
