PHOTOS * "flavored"soda water coke bottle * help id date / plant made please

recently I found a odd item -- a "straight sided" 6 oz "flavored" soda water bottle that was owned by the coca cola bottle bottling company --by which used to bottle items other than just coca cola *

it is straight sided , round shaped and clear colored glass ---it has a five pointed star and the words "SODA WATER" on both sides on the "shoulder" area of the bottle --- along the base on one side it says "PROPERTY OF THE COCA - COLA BOTTLING COMPANY" on the other side along the base "MINIMUM CONTENTS 6-FLUID OZ."

ON THE BOTTOM --THE WORD "FLORIDA" AND A FIVE POINTED STAR

I am trying to find out date range and plant of manufactor -- I know i that most coca cola bottling plants listed the city of manufactor (where this one just list the "state")--and that round "flavor bottles" are rarer -- I know that jacksonville, florida had a coca cola plant starting in 1903 and wonder if its from there? one web site says the shoulder script style making in canada is 1910 to 1919 era ish. --any coke bottle experts out there? I'm thinking 1903 to 1919 era jacksonville plant?

Re: I know "what " but need help figgering out when and where made --* coke bottle

only one star on each side of my bottle with the words "soda water" under it on both sides *--the shape of mine is smooth or "straight" sided not angled and the body is 100% round shaped as well as the bottom --the stars on the neck area have one point upwards in the classical 5 pointed star way

Re: know "flavored"soda water coke bottle * help figgering out when and where made

the majority of straight side coke bottles were made between 1905 and 1915

thanks for that info -- so most "straight side bottles" were made from 1905 to 1915 -- that is within the rough guess range (1903 to 1919 era) I put out eariler -- so that helps narrow the time frame a bit --- a few years on each end ---- thanks

Found a non Florida star bottle, however the star wasn't pointing upwards.

it has a large open middle area between the star & "soda water" on the "shoulder" area and the lettering along the "base" ideal for a paper label to be placed upon -- i also think that it most likely had a "paper label" at one time denoting the "brand" & flavor within -- like grape, orange or rootbeer -(while bottled at the coca -cola company bottling plant --it was not coke in the bottle)-so we agree for once.

its a bit odd since most bottles have the city of the bottling plant on the bottom --where this one says "florida" ---the state

it is straight sided type --clear glass bottle --jacksonville got its first "coke" bottling plant in 1903 and this type of bottle went out of fashion about 1915 to 1919 (depending upon the area you were in ) --so I'm thinking rough date range of 1903 to 1919 -- maybe from the jacksonville plant?

Nice bottle! Date I'd say 1920's  The word Floridia is just were it was bottled!
The bottles which have no unique shape or embossing, bearing only the "Property of Coca-Cola Bottling Co" and the words "Soda Water" in some variation can be found from time to time, and are also collectible for their connection to Coca-Cola. Their values will vary from bottle to bottle, depending on location and bottling company.

Research for these bottles gave a price range on online shops varying from $3 to $10. Two examples, Coca-Cola Soda Water bottle from Bangor, Maine, 1920s was listed for $10, while a similar bottle from Litchfield, Illinois was offered for $3.

Having an automatic bottle machine base (ABM) we know it's form 1895-?

I know, but that's about as close as I can get. ;D

I would say 1895-1920's. Because of the automatic bottle machine base it appears to have.

"Many soda bottles dating prior to 1920 have a "slug plate", which often covered the entire side of the bottle."

Maybe these can help:
http://www.sha.org/bottle/dating.htm

http://www.sodasandbeers.com/SABBottleBasesSoda.htm

I would also assume this bottle was from Star Water Comp.

Does it have a crown finish?
http://www.sha.org/bottle/Finishes/machinefinishes1920.jpg

Then that would leave the possibility of a kork-crow-seal or a cap seal. Dating it around the 1920s.

However if you will read the heading "CARBONATED BEVERAGE BOTTLE CLOSURES"
You will see the canning jar (wire/cork) Putnam enclosures. (1860s-1880s)
http://www.sha.org/bottle/closures.htm#Non-threaded caps
IMO this time frame doesn't cut it for your bottle, because yours appears to have the ABM bottom.

Sorry I find bottles fascinating! Anyway, you can look at all the different type of bottles on the websites I provided.

I can't really see the top lip of your bottle, so I am of course guessing here.

Re: PHOTOS * "flavored"soda water coke bottle * help id date / plant made please

it has a "crown cap" type top (1892 TO CURRENT DATE USE) with a ABM type base (1895* - 1920 ERA ) ----the are side seams on each side that run from the "ring" bottom seam around the base area all the way to the tip top of the lip of the bottle --(there are 2 side seams and 1 "base" ring "seam -- thus 3 "parts" --left side/right side /bottom in total) -- the bottle has a very notible uneven glass level in the bottomand has a few air bubbles in it . --it is round in shape , clear in color and other than the stars and lettering has no other markings.
