The petrified wood in this area is awesome stuff! I made a rough cut to begin polishing. I found about 10 pieces this size and bigger in a 10'x10' area along the creek bed.

Nice BB ! Do you think this piece has been worked by man?

Found it in a field behind my Grandmas home-site.

Appears natural to me. That's a beautiful piece!

Thanks BB ! Guess its just a coincidence that it perfectly fits my hand then =)

Those sure would look nice sawed thin and put above some light! Or you can always throw then into a 2 pound rock tumbler for a month and really shine them up! Figure out what geologic strata those are coming from and gather some more I know here in my state of Wyoming we can accumulate about 200 lbs per year legally last I knew.. The wood here in Wyoming has been found in the layers that are Eocene in age dating to around 50 million years approximately and it is mostly agatized like that! Sure is beautiful, nice finds!

Thanks man, I appreciate it! I'm definitely going to be collecting more of this and cutting some jewelry pieces.
