I think a pile of dino poop would be the size of a VW.

It could be a Coprolite, fossilized animal dung, but I'm not seeing any structure or other fossil material in it. Some good images of Corprolites on google and a few look like yours. What I do see are possibly small pyrites in the stone, shinny spots, and what looks like quartz and limonite making the bulk of the stone. That would give it the weight and the ceramic sound. If your up to it try knocking a small chip off the end and a good picture of it. A hardness test and streak test would be good as well.
Where abouts did you pick it up?
