Petrified Bone?

Found this sitting on the surface of the ground. Immediately thought it was ball from some sort of limb bone. Picked it up and was surprised to find that whatever its origin, it was petrified.
Found in Ramah, McKinley County, New Mexico.

Interesting find. The overall shape and radial arrangement of 'tubular' features suggests that it's probably a tabulate coral or possibly a coralline sponge fossil.

The internal structure you're showing is not at all consistent with it being bone.

I'm not a bone expert, and I'm not here to counter anyone's opinions. But I have dug up old bones and the structure of the 'spongy bone' under the articular cartilage does bear a resemblance to this find.

I see why you think “bone”, but the pattern doesn’t seem correct for ossified material.
I lean toward the sponge direction.
