Pestle find.

Went to a spot I hadn't been since last august. Looked where I left off digging and this was waiting for me. I was probably inches from it when I stopped digging and rain washed it out.

What exactly is a pestle?

a pestle is a stone tool used to grind or mash substances in a mortar. This "hominy hole" pictured here is what they might have used a pestle in conjunction with. Also this hominy hole is around a half mile from where I found this pestle.View attachment 629414

I wish I could get this hominy hole home to put in my yard. I still sit and think sometimes how to get it from where it is. Once you dig into the bottom of this rock just keeps going though. Its huge.

Good job.Top find. Banner. Totally nuts. You must not have any competion jumping in the hole when you quit to go home. It got so bad when I dug that I started caveing it in so the other guys couldn't see the midden I was working. That solved the problem.
