I had a great year hunting arifacts.Gathered below are my favorite finds of 2008.
I was able to find artifacts from many time periods but my favorite finds were
from the contact period. I still can't get over the trade items found this year.

First up ,celts---The large one was actually found in a dilapidated barn.

Hafted scrapers, Chalcedony point

Preforms, blades

My favorite flint finds

Silver trade brooches

Earwheel & trade silver

a good year 009 (824 x 618).jpg

Various gun parts.

a good year 010 (824 x 618).jpg

Close up of side plate. Notice the shield with the bow and arrow motif.
Very likely a gun meant for trade with Native Americans.

Thanks for looking, hope everyone has a great 2009., UNITAS

Excellent year. You found a little of everything it seems. 3 hardstone celts to boot. I hope your 2009 is just as productive. Thanks for the year end review. John

im on the opposite side of the state,i hunt portage summit and geauga county

You had a very good year unitas. There are some very nice pieces in there. We don't find the historic items like that down here in southern Ohio. Of course, they may be here and if I metal detected I might find them.

I had a very good 2008 as well and I plan on putting on post showing my yearly finds real soon.

Thanks. All the metal items were found with a detector except one. I surface found the first brooch
which led to the use of detectors because there had to be more where that one came from.
Looking forward to your post and congrats again on that axe.
