Hello fellow treasure hunters, and thank you for sharing in my excitement!

Went out yesterday to a local Park Iv'e been to before with modest results, Not bad but not great... It was a beautiful day here in the Buffalo NY area and about 1 min into it, I hit a solid signal wile scrubbing the grass! At about 10ish inches I dug up a nice silver quarter! Immediately I noticed a small crown? ??? Curious.... I went to the truck and some water. 1902-H King Edward Sterling Silver Quarter!!! :hello2: Now I'm totally Stoked!!! Wile I was enjoying the moment, I realized this find was at the very fringe of the depth I was getting... Coil up a 1/4 inch and nothing! What else am I missing I wondered? Hmmmmm...........

Determined to make it a great day I put the E-Trac in manual sensitivity and pushed the H.E. double hockey sticks out of it! MAX!

I know, I know.... May miss things and the chatter was great.... But..... I slowed WAY DOWN and was able to hear the good through the endless chatter.

Research & my patients paid off BIG! Silver is scattered all over this field! Silver I had been walking right over in auto sensitivity. You can imagine my excitement as I started digging up coins from 12 to 13 inches.... All I can say is WOW. A personal best day for me and I'm still excited!

I'll skip the coin by coin plays and just get to the money shot for the day... Hope you enjoy!

Spectacular Day! :notworthy: Your energy sounds like you were gonna put on headlamp and dig all nite too if not enuf silver turned up before sundown, lol. Andi

Very nice finds! I am going to try this method with my se pro. Hunt an area often with a lot of old nails. The man that lived there shoed horses for a living back in the old days when horses were the main mode of transportation. It will be a very noisey day but I think this is going to be the only way to find the good stuff. Pulled an 05 Indian and a buffalo with the date not visable. I know there is other stuff there to include a ring that was lost way back. Congrats on the great finds. Stories like this keep me motivated to ignor the wife and go huntin'!

Very nice coins

Great score on the silver.Glad you figured out the sweet spot on the etrac.way to go

Very nice silver scores! Our area is silver poor but better for brass items so will take what ever if find since I am enjoying the hunts. I have been running my E-trac in manual sensitivity also. Definite improvement and I am also trying to ramp up sensitivity a bit but the field out here is rather iron infested. Believe I can tell better with less sensitivity whats going on. Heres a picture of my new to me coil, the 15 inch W.O.T. Since you mentioned bigger coils in your posting , have been doing well in the field with it. finding more deep brass items now . Am still working on getting the pinpointing down better. Doing the it while in discriminate seems more easy to me. Given the amount of iron in the field here its probably the only way to do it.

Thanks coin&relicman. Yes the iron trash is thick here too... and I'm sure it is hidding some stuff. It's actually one of my concerns with a bigger coil. Will it find the good on the edge of iron as well or will the larger area just pick up more steel?

I was running the E-Trac at 28 to 30 (max) sensitivity depending on the iron content.
Discriminating iron.
Recovery Deep on
Recovery fast on
Trash Density high
Ground difficult

The chatter is continuous but if you really listen you can here the good repeatable hits. I would definitely not recommend it to beginners though. Get to know your detectors voice first!

I thought for years that most of the silver here has been found. Seems now I have been missing much of what is there. I am new to the E-Trac and still experimenting but this is a great machine!

My best advice? RESERCH & EXPERIMENT! I found the history of this park in a little story an elderly woman had written. It was mostly about the people but she did mention "______ field, first park"!

Lol, Well don't ignore her!!! My GF is in to it too! Although she don't post, she is a member here too. We have both been VERY INSPIRED by all of you.... Thank you all!!!

Oh, and just listen very closely for the signals you want... see if they are repeatable at 90º.

Way to adapt and utilize the full potential of your tools...chatter or no chatter.

CongratZ!

What a nice area to hunt! The ETrac is a killer coin machine, especially for silver. I have found several silver dimes and one quarter down around a foot with mine. I like it so much I actually traded my XP Deus for a second ETrac so if mine has an issue I won't be without.
