I found this in my front field today and I have the slight hope that it could be a percussion cap; perhaps from a pistol. More likely however it is just a modern bullet jacket from a .22 or something. Opinions, please? :)

Here it be:

In this picture, the item on the left is a real percussion cap from a rifle, for comparison.

Got one. :D Its a 209 shotgun primer...fired... modern. I can see the firing pin mark. They are very popular in modern inline muzzleloading. More reliable than caps.
Ill take a pic of one for you if I can find mine.

ADDED: Im lazy so I took some pics from the internet. Unfired primers left and far right in 2nd pic.

It could be that too, I guess. Same thing. Its a shotgun shell primer. They are used in modern inline muzzleloaders. More reliable than caps.

My inline muzzleloader uses 209 primers and I have reloaded hundreds of shotgun shells with them also. I doubt the rest of the shell could have corroded away and just left the primer. So I am sticking with an inline muzzle loader. They have only been using shotgun shell primers for 10 years or less for inline muzzle loaders. I think this needs a check mark. Monty
