Gary,

The reason is that the technology to evaluate and do aerial photos allowed for higher altitudes, thus covering a larger area. I use the 30's photos because they are so different, and have the advantage that time has changed landmarks more drastictly from that period.

Riddle me this......


Why the heck are there two to three times MORE photos available for the 1937-1942 range than the 1967-1972 range You'd think it'd be the other way around?

I have a target......It is what appears to be an OLD foundation. I can BARELY see it on modern Google maps (though I've stood right next to it). But I cannot seem to locate it on the 1939 ariel. And there ISN'T a pic available of that spot in the 1967-1972 range! GRRRR!

Try checkin the 1870's atlas for your county, I use 2 monitors and have been book marking old home locations in my area. If you need a link post up your county and I will see if I can find your free online atlas.
