Well the nasty f word struck today....FROST!!! Had to dig down thru an inch of it but did hit a yard of an 1800's house today. First find was the 1818 Large cent and after digging that out I re scanned the hole and still got a solid hit, dug around more with my hand and caught a glint of gold....my heart beat picked up and as I cleaned the dirt off, there sitting there was a gold wedding ban, I smiled and said the detecting gods are smiling on me, looking at it I noticed it looked alot like mine, I then realized the detecting gods have a rotten sense of humor, for it was in fact my ring, must have got caught on a root and pulled off as I was digging with my hand and I didn;t notice it...well at least I didn't lose it... I then found 3 IH's, 1903, 1905 and no date one, alos found a locket that says G on the back...looks plate. Also found 7 wheaties 1910, 1917, 1918, 1930 and 3 1940's. AS the day ended I hit one area out front I ahd been over twice...got a solid signal and dug and down 8 inches the detecting gods made up for their sense of humor.....gold shimmered once again and this time it wasn;t my wedding ban....a class of 1940 Prospect Park High School ring. back says Martin 10K..not sure what the martin is?? It is also engraved with the intitials DHD...so now the research starts....found 3 Prospect Parks...one in PA, one in NJ, and another in Brooklyn...not sure if the owner is still alive, would be in his 80's now...but gotta try... Hopefully the frost won;t get to deep yet and will be able to get out a few more times....
