Found this pendant a few days ago at a house teardown site. Any ideas as to what organization it represents? If it is indeed from 1907, it is in pristine condition and still has the pin on the back. The inscription on the front says Kansas City May 22-3. Monty

Hmmmm ! I think I have got it. B and A stands for Burger Association and of course it is under the "Golden Arches".
I am surprised you all didn't figure this out. :D

Somehow, I knew this day would come! ::)

(Do we get fries with that?)

Assuming that tree looking thing is an M, I think you are probably right. I found the Bankers Assoc., but couldn' find a date. If the date corresponds it's almost surely it. Thanks. The Mo Historical Society didn't have a clue. I think I'll write them back and let them know that we "unprofessional rapers of artifacts" know a little something too. Actually their response was very nice and they even tried to recruit me to join up for a fee of course. Monty

in 1907 on may 23rd Edward Lincoln Copeland made a speach in kansas city
excerpt
At Kansas City, Mo., May 23, 1907, he delivered an address before the Missouri Bankers' Association on the subject of "Prosperity a Problem for the Railroads," Mr. Copeland contrasting the banker and the railway man.

maybe they were handed out???

I'll buy that, sounds plausible to me! Monty

Yep. That's the link I found. I'll keep the URL next time.

What's with the "unprofessional rapers of artifacts"? ??? Man, that's harsh! Why not "discoverers of artifacts that would otherwise be lost for all eternity"? Not to mention "figure-outers of what the heck the artifacts are"...
:D

That harsh comparison was not my words, but some I saw used in an article that was anti metal detecting. AS I recall, some proffessor of anthropoligy described us like that. >:( Bah Humbug to him! Monty

PBK,

FYI - It's not unusual for professional groups to start an Association long before they are chartered or incorporated, Even though the legal eagles are not applicable in this instance.

Monty,

Good hunt for a puzzling problem.

Thanks. I believe that I may have been at least dimly aware of that already. However, I do think it's rather a stretch to suggest that a state bar association could be sizable, cohesive, and successful enough to hold 60 annual conventions without ever seeking or obtaining official sanction, or that its existence and legal status might somehow remain a matter of indifference and inaction to the state supreme court for half a dozen decades. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I have to believe there's some simpler and more plausible explanation of the apparent contradiction. Then again, as you've noted, it's a moot point anyway.

To end this parable, let it be noted that the Missouri Hysterical Society never showed any interest since I informed them the good folks on T-net figured out what it was!. Last word from them was that they had no idea and wanted me to contribute money. Monty
