Does anyone know if pawn shops by law are suppose to disclose what percentage they pay on gold (example: 75% of melt)

Also, what is decent percentage one should expect for get for your gold?

Obviously the amount of gold per K is different but i would assume that the percentage they should pay should be the same. I always get a different answer who ever I speak to.

(I've been holding onto my finds)

Thanks

In my state no disclosure needed. Most pay 50-60% of spot, 70 -80 if you have a lot. I would go to a jeweler or coin dealer compare, the cash for gold gold buyers- hotel buyers are usually fly by night rip offs in my area

do a little research an call around before you sell .

Look up ARAgold.com, it is a gold refinery in Dallas, TX, the last time I sent gold to them they gave me 98% of gold spot that day according to what karat. All the info will be on the internet site on how to deal with them. GH, Don

Thanks, ill check it out now

I have heard that the worst payers are mail/.com buyers.

Anyone that sells their hard earned gold jewelry to a pawn shop deserves to be paid pennies on the dollar.

A refinery like Midwest Refineries or ARA Refineries pay 98% of spot price. Midwest pays 96% of spot. http://www.aragold.com/ ARA will also send you back the stones.

There are sites and Apps that convert the gold by weight, Kt. and spot price of the day. The refinery may melt your gold on a different day and the price will be reflected in the amount of cash you get. It is the difference in getting $65.00 for a ring or $135.00,

I have an App on my phone that I can walk into a "Cash for Gold" fly by night and ask them how much they will pay for a certain weight 14 kt ring.

Please note that ARA in Texas prefers to deal in larger lots.
But will accept smaller lots of raw gold/jewelry, just don't
send them a few grams. It has to be worth their while!!!
98% of spot on your melt is their current pay out.

Please don't take your stuff to ANY pawn shop! If you are in Miami, pm me. I got a guy, who will pay as good as ARA(on gold) to us local club members. He's got a store in Hollywood, I know where it's at, just can't remember the store name right off the top.
We have a club meeting Monday night also, he may be there. Like I said, pm me, if you want more info.
HH!

Pawn and most jewelers pay about 1/3 spot here in Md. Frank... hand print-2_edited-5.jpg

I use Midwest and have had no problems..but they don't return the stones. Ara in Texas
will make you an offer on the stones if valuable.
