Dug this at old homesite dating into late 1800s. It's made from brass. Any ideas. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1436314773.712446.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1436314819.198765.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1436314860.797611.jpg

While the item resembles a trigger guard, I am almost certain that it is not related to a gun! If it were a trigger guard, there would be a place (slot) for the trigger to extend from and there is no slot.

Wow thanks the trigger is still there it's rusted pretty bad but if you look close enough you can see it. I knew someone would nail this find. Thanks a million.

I looked it up and seems to be from the Daisy model 1888 bb gun. I've found a lot of cool relics from this site and it keeps surprising me. I donated a township fire dept badge that dated to late 1800s and some trade tokens from the turn of the century to local historical society. No one else detects this site along with a few others I detect. Most others are in parks. I like the old stuff. My oldest readable coin so far is a 1828 U.S. Half cent. I found a 1889 seated dime on this site along with lots of Indian head cents other solve dimes and quarters and large cents. Love this hobby and tnet for the knowledge of its members. I didn't know where to start looking for an ID on this so I put on here and got an ID quick. Thanks again and good luck out there.

Great identification! I did not see the trigger and have never seen a trigger guard like that for a real (bullet firing) gun but never thought of a BB Gun. My Dad or anyone else for that matter, only bought me one BB Gun when I was a kid and after that, I shot only shotguns and rifles and really had no interest in BB Guns anymore.
