Its been a long time since I posted one of my hunting adventures , but I had to talk about this one.......The park that i detected today has been detected many , many times.....we even had our club picnic there from time to time. It is a huge park which dates back to the early 20,s plenty of silver has been found there barbers, mercury dimes, quarters , halfs you name it.......but the sites that are hidden within can only be foundwith the right material, I am talking about old maps........a few of these hidden sites have been found with a number of great finds to show for it....(large coppers, early american and spanish silver) buttons , Relics you name it.

Today I found another undetected site, with a little luck and a keen eye to see whats been left behind from the past ....seeing that one small depression was all it took. With a couple of hours left before dark I hit the spanish 1755 - half reale down 6 to 7 inches....and while digging noticed some very thin window glass ....That was something i was glad to see. An old homesite was here , the first copper was only 6 inches down....the next was over 10 inches with some of the pottery shards. They dated 1847 and 1848.

The mercury dime was not a surprise, but an added bonus. The sight of a silver coin just after finding 1 spanish , and 2 coppers I was all excited thinking US coin....and ahahahhahaha Not to be......all in all it was a good outing and some research paid off again. Enjoy!!!!!

Nice finds john.

You are exactly right. I have hunted a few parks like that. Big in size but there were homes in those woods at one point. I have pulled out some great finds at foundation sites at old parks. Good going on the research man.
