park closings

From what I read off the state parks press release. They will shutter the parks, basically close them off to the public, gate them off, the state will still own them, but not maintain them.
There will be a ranger posted at each park in order to police it and that is all. All maintainance will come to an end and all rules will still be in effect and policed by the one stationed ranger. So if detecting is off limits, I would guess it would remain that way.

Got to love to love it, what was it 20+ thousand dollars for EACH of the Rod Bloko tollways signs X how many? but no money to clean a park? People in this state are asleep at the wheel.

Well I guess bad guys do get what they deserve.......... sometimes. Did you guys see blagoyojevich got arrested trying to sell a senate seat ;D ;D. He is now out on bond and Obama is calling for him to resign. Wonder if they are going to go back and maby look at all of the crap he screwed up while he was in office (and the people he screwed too..you and me). Maby the next guy will clean up his mess and open the parks back up.

They closed down some parks on the local reservoir and they just let them go back to nature. You can still get to them on foot or by boat but the roads are barricaded. The picnic tables and the old pavilions are still there. Monty

great now you gotta "hike in"---wonderful for healthy "trial walker" type folks and eco nut "bird watcher" types but it sucks for the older folks and less phyically able (handicapped) .--- humm if the parks are big nuff maybe get them opened up as "hunting land" now--even small parks could be bow hunted (with no danger to the public) --bigger ones muzzleloader or shotgunhunted

I don't know how many of ya voted for Obama, but I'm afraid our country is going to be run like the Chicago politicians. I hope you Chicagoans don't take offense to that comment, because I feel for ya.

How could we possibly take offense at this Ray? It's too freakin true, I'm sorry to say.

Yeah but maybe Blago is selling State Park Lands :icon_scratch: ::)

Those are probably worth some money too.

(sorry couldn't resist)

Hi All Fellow Illinois Th'ers: WELL,old Blago is in a tight spot now, runs his mouth, arrogant and dirty as all politicians are but very stupid, challenge the feds and get busted. He has been an idiot since elected. Being on the poor Western half of the state but in Little Cook County as it is nicknamed because of Dems running this county, maybe just maybe after Obama called for him to resign(by the way if you believe Obama has had no contact on this with Blago then we have several old bridges for sale here) we can move forward with our state to be running instead of stalled and all monies filtered to Chicago and the Daley wheel. This Gov as some in the past needs lots of jail time too. We need to elect Obama's successor, elect a new Gov and get one in from Downstate not Chicago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just venting but it is true. Hardrock :-\ :coffee2:

Foresight? I don't think so. I was born, raised, and lived in Chicago until I got married. We then lived near Ohare field for 10 yrs before I realized that the State (& Chicago) was corrupted. In the 'older days', I drove the way I wanted and received many traffic tickets. Being stopped many times, I paid off some cops that wanted to give me tickets. I have paid as little as $1.35 "To have the matter overlooked" (It was all of the money I had). I still have the badge numbers, cop car numbers, how much I paid, and the dates.

I had my license suspended, and many times I tried to fill out a new application, send in the $3, and hope that the Illinois secretary of state would overlook my suspension....but to no avail. Of the 3 or 4 times I tried to get reinstated, I NEVER heard from the state or got my money back. Evidently, the secretary of state at that time, Carpenter, included my money in his stash of $7 million found in shoe boxes in his closet after he died.
I then had an idea. Since drivers' licenses were photostats (looked like a film negative) being 3/4th the size of the original application, I went out to many photostat businesses to get a few 'driver's licenses'. The businesses all told me it was against the law to reduce the application to 3/4ths the original size. Finally, on S Halsted Av, I found a business that copied some......many! I was now set!! Everytime I was pulled over, I just handed the officer my 'license'....with a fake name and address. Normally. the officer took the license and handed you the ticket. I keep thinking about this....no tickets paid, the city cops go to the address to find out why....an empty lot.

I escaped the Chicagoland area some 35 yrs ago to move to Minnesota, and it is great! I also went 19 1/2 yrs without a driver's license--- and got a REAL Minnesota license a yr after we moved here. Driving? I'm 93-2 (wins/losses) dragging at stop lights in the last 6 1/2 yrs with a 5 speed stick SUV. Will I ever learn? In time, in time, I'm kinda getting up there in age.....we'll see.

Hi, Casull! Yeah...just didn't want to offend any of the hardworking, ordinary folks up around Chi-town. I used to work with the Illinois Secretary of State Police out of the Rockford office. Worked in Boone, McHenry, Lake, Will, DuPage and Kane counties. Stayed out of Cook. Met a lot of great, hardworking people up around there that had to cope with all the BS coming out of Cook county. I live about 15 miles west of the Indiana line just off I-70 and have always been a 'rural' red-neck type of people. lol Maybe we could sell Cook county to mastereagle22 and move it to southeast missouri. LOL How about it mastereagle22??? Ray

Hi, Shermanville! I haven't heard anything about the parks here in Clark and Coles counties closing, other than Lincoln Log Cabin. As far as I know Fox Ridge, south of Charleston on route 130, ... Walnut Point, north of Oakland, Illinois, ... Lincoln Trail, south of Marshall, Illinois, on route 1, are still remaining open. Of course, one never knows when that big political door will slam shut and close them off. I pull my camper to these state campgrounds in the spring, summer and fall. Check out some old homesteads and do some detecting and mushrooming in the spring. I know the rates for camping have gone up quite a bit at the state campgrounds and has really hurt some of those who aren't financially set to afford them. That really p----- me off! I'm retired myself and 'thankfully' the price of gas has gone down temporarily to let me afford to get out to them once in a while. Well, I've vented enough for now. Unless someone comes up with something else that 'sticks in my craw'. LOL Have a goodun!! Ray
