gov.Rod Blago says there no cash to keep these parks open - Castle Rock,Lowden,Illini Hidden Springs,Moraine,Weldon,Wolf Creek.Historic sites closing-Dana-Thomas House,Lincoln log cabin near Charleston,Fort de Chartres,Vandalia statehouse,State center at Bishop Hill,Carl Sandberg birthplace,Cahokia courthouse,Hauberg Indain museum,Jubilee College, Apple River Fort,Fort Kaskaskia,Pierre Menard home....parks remaining open-Hennepin Canal Parkway,Channahon Parkway,Gebhard Woods,Kickapoo State park

thats the million dollar question

I don't under stand. Closing them, does that mean that there is no more rangers, or that they are gonna divide them up sell them or what? Its nature, I don't see how you can close it down... :icon_scratch:

It probably means they won't do maintenance anymore and the place will go back to nature. No cutting grass, cutting weeds, fixing boat docks or walkways etc.

FYI. The State of Texas closed some parks. Gave one to the city of Houston, but they still want to charge for admission, and NO detecting... What a Deal???????? HH Gayle

I would guess some of this land may go to DNR and you can hunt DNR land with permits. But the most of it will end up with chains and No Tresspassing/State Property signs posted all around. Of course some it may get pawned off to Tony Rezko and pals property developers for Robbie and Barak's summer homes.

Sounds about right... :tard:

I wouldn't be surprised to see Rod Blagowvwvbadsrkjgkvjhdfhvich clearing out a nice big area of trees atop a scenic cliff in some state park to build a summer house. Jerkness.

Hope they put up enough signs letting
you know that your tresspassing. ::)

Just hate itwhen your in an area all day and at
the end of your hunt you find a no tresspassing
sign. ::)

SHERMANVILLE

All I can say is that close by is Bollinger Mill. It is a State Park and a historic site. There was a LOT of Civil War Activity here.

I would LOVE to hunt the area but it is OFF limits!!!! Except for the Park Ranger that lives on site and hunts the area almost EVERY day!!!

What's always amazing is all of the taxes we pay, like State and Federal income tax, city and county taxes, sales tax, fuel tax, tax on takeout food, property tax, etc... and we keep losing resources due to lack of funding. Sounds like huge mismanagement of the tax dollars.
Somebody's getting rich.

don't forget those great Toll systems

"They tell me you are wicked and I believe them, for I
have seen your painted women under the gas lamps
luring the farm boys.
And they tell me you are crooked and I answer: Yes, it
is true I have seen the gunman kill and go free to
kill again.
And they tell me you are brutal and my reply is: On the
faces of women and children I have seen the marks
of wanton hunger.
And having answered so I turn once more to those who
sneer at this my city, and I give them back the sneer
and say to them:
Come and show me another city with lifted head singing
so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning.
Flinging magnetic curses amid the toil of piling job on
job, here is a tall bold slugger set vivid against the
little soft cities;

Fierce as a dog with tongue lapping for action, cunning
as a savage pitted against the wilderness,
Bareheaded,
Shoveling,
Wrecking,
Planning,
Building, breaking, rebuilding,
Under the smoke, dust all over his mouth, laughing with
white teeth,
Under the terrible burden of destiny laughing as a young
man laughs,
Laughing even as a fighter laughs who has
never lost a battle,
Bragging and laughing that under his wrist is the pulse.
and under his ribs the heart of the people,
ighter laughs who has
never lost a battle,
Bragging and laughing that under his wrist is the pulse.
and under his ribs the heart of the people,
Laughing!
Laughing the stormy, husky, brawling laughter of
Youth, half-naked, sweating, proud to be Hog
Butcher, Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat, Player with
Railroads and Freight Handler to the Nation."

"I've labored long and hard for bread,
For honor and for riches
But on my corns too long you've tread,
You fine-haired sons-of-bitches.
Black Bart, the P o 8"

Isn't our governor just grand. He flies from Chicago to Springfield to run the state, instead of living in the governor's mansion. He has to pay for those flights and utilities on the mansion that's probably not being used. What a wasteful governor we have.

I never voted for him...

I never voted for him either. His 'regime' has bled the rest of the state dry. Forced a lot of campers out of state parks by raising camping fees. A lot of these people are low income folks who use the state parks for their entertainment during the 'camping months' and pitching tents bringing their kids out to enjoy nature. Now he's pushed that away. What a waste!! I don't know how many of ya voted for Obama, but I'm afraid our country is going to be run like the Chicago politicians. I hope you Chicagoans don't take offense to that comment, because I feel for ya. You folks are being taxed to death up there, too. Kind of makes you wonder just how crooked our Illinois' politicians really are. Now that I've vented I feel better. LOL All you THers out there have a fantastic 'Turkey Day'!!! HH Ray
