I saw this “point” while walking a field edge. Looks like a notched base partially covered with sand.

But alas, after pulling it:

It’s a J.A.R. ( just a rock). 1-1/4” long, not an artifact. I thought I’d show how easily we can be deceived by positioning.

I can see what you were seeing.
It's been the same story for me this last 15 yrs.

Yep, found hundreds like that that looked authentic till I picked it up then realize it is just a rock, sand can really trick you.

I would have bent down and picked that one up quick, thinking I had a keeper.....only to be disappointed.

I found one once in Ohio. It was so perfect I yelled to my friend to come see it before I picked it up. It was a black leaf!
